The Ibogaine Myth Is True!

January 8, 2015 by Johnny Tabaie

The Iboga plant has been used as an herb in the initiation rituals of the Equatorial tribes of Africa since time immemorial. In this initiation ceremony, the subjects are presumed to have an encounter with their ancestors. Today the same concept is followed with a slight variation. The Ibogaine drug generates period of vivid dreamlike visions that coincide with intrinsic rewiring and resetting of the nervous system. Deborah C. Mash of the University Of Miami School Of Medicine describes it as a very gentle detox. The Ibogaine drug is presumed to be an effective addiction interrupter for heroin, methadone, methamphetamine, cocaine, alcohol, and nicotine through anecdotal studies. It also can arrest the compulsive, habitual levels of consciousness in which drug dependency manifests itself.

Carl Anderson and his colleagues at Harvard Medical School and the Brain Imaging Center at McLean Hospital are in the process of analyzing a critically important region of the brain called the cerebella vermis. Carl Anderson is of the opinion that the vermis and cerebellum are catalysts to all methods of healing as well as the effects of all substance abuse. It has been inferred that the vermis could be attributed to the ignition of kundalini energy, an integral aspect of yoga therapy. Abnormal neuronal activity and subsequent blood flow in the vermis of those who have had traumatic experiences in the childhood is responsible for emotional stability. Imbalances in the emotional aspects lead to dysfunction of the blood flow in the vermin.

One of the factors leading to this dysfunction is the excess levels of corticosteroids during early stress which has a negative impact on the development of the cerebella vermis. This in turn may increase the risk of substance abuse later in life. Studies by Carl Anderson and associates point out that stress which continuously builds up coupled with maltreatment stunts the development of the cerebellum vermis. This leads to neuropsychiatric disturbances prompting drug dependency.

Ibogaine Treatment has the potential to activate the fiber projections rising to the vermis that influences Purkinje cells, the major output neuron of the vermis. As a result on administering Ibogaine Treatment the loss of the ability to coordinate muscular movement (Ataxia) and nausea develops first, followed by auditory and visual hallucinations which occur in rapid succession like a movie being played before one’s eyes at high speed. Subsequently when the effects of the Ibogaine Treatment drug subside, the subject may go into a deep slumber up to for 24 hours. Clinical studies reveal that when the subject awakens from this sleep a complete remission from addiction is experienced. Ibogaine treatment therefore is presumed to alter the habitual cognitive-emotional patterns of drug addiction by redesigning the neuron networks of the vermis thereby generating a favorable neural composition and organization within the brain.

Though recovery does not stop at detoxification, it is the vital initial step to equip the brain to accept a life free from addiction. It is rightly remarked that “Ibogaine rehab paves the way for understanding the mechanisms of living a spiritual life and heal the brain effectively.
